FABIAN Taylor netted his sixth goal of the season as Harbour View recorded their sixth victory, 2-1 over Tivoli Gardens, in their Wray & Nephew National Premier League football match at Harbour View yesterday.

Luton Shelton added the winners' second goal before substitute, Christopher Nicholas, responded in the second half for the resurgent Tivoli.

"We knew that Tivoli always come out strong in the first half, so we wanted the early goals," said victorious coach, Donovan Hayles.

Harbour View extended their lead atop the tables by four points, the victory putting them on 19 points ahead of Waterhouse (15), who drew with Portmore United, 1-1.

Taylor opened the scoring in the fourth minute but shortly after muffed an opportunity to double the scoreline.

Shelton struck in the 38th minute, giving the pacesetters a 2-0 lead at the break.

Atypically, Tivoli erupted in the second half, bringing out the best in Harbour View's goalkeeper, Leon Gordon. He denied Roland Dean and Andrew Chisholm, but not second-half substitute, Christopher Nicholas, who exhibited slick craftmanship after 58 minutes.

With the ball at his feet on the far left, he shuffled inside the 18-yard and let rip a cheeky low shot that eluded Gordon.

For the remainder of the match, Tivoli stormed the Harbour View defence but failed to equalise, thanks to the alert Gordon and defenders, Clifton Waugh and Damion Stewart.

Jermaine Hue, the Harbour View playmaker, was stretchered off just under the hour.

Fabian Davis took up the mantle of attack for Tivoli in the dying minutes of the match, but Gordon kept out his shots to allow the stars of the east to snatch all three points.

"We got the chances in the second half, but were not able to put them away," said Tivoli coach, Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey.
